Művek vízre - tervek, modellek

A kiállítás kapcsolódik a május 22-től szeptemberig, a Városligeti tavon látható és csónakkal látogatható immár második Művészet a tavon, Art on Lake nemzetközi public-art eseményhez, amelyet a Szépművészeti Múzeum szervez. Tizenegy évvel ezelőtt, az első Városligeti tóra tervezett kiállításon magyar művészek plasztikai művei köszöntötték a 2000. évet. Most, 2011-ben a művész számára a vízzel, a környezettel, a nézőközönséggel, sőt, a történelemmel való dialógus sokféle lehetősége a kihívás. A Vasarely Múzeum termeibe természetesen nem a tóra tervezett, helyspecifikus nagyszabású művek kerülhetnek, hanem a 2000-ben és most készült installációk tervei, modelljei és a művek megvalósításának munka-dokumentumai. Érdekes lesz összevetni a külföldi résztvevők elképzeléseit a korábbi tó-kiállítás fennmaradt dokumentumaival. Van ezen kívül a kiállításnak egy harmadik része, amely tágabb értelemben is foglalkozik a víz médiumával: itt kapnak helyet a szabad tervezésre felkért magyar és külföldi művészek elképzelései, akik közül többen a fiatal generáció tagjai.

The exhibition is related to the international public art event Art on Lake, to take place from 22 May till September 2011 on the lake of City Park, where the displayed artworks can also be viewed from rowboats. This is the second such event, organized now by the Museum of Fine Arts. Eleven years ago, at the first exhibition designed for City Park Lake, sculptures by Hungarian artists were presented in a gesture of welcoming the year 2000. This time around the challenge is in the innumerable possibilities for dialogue between the artist and the element of water, the environment, the audience, and even history. It follows from logic that it is not the completed, site-specific, mostly large scale works themselves that will be showcased in the exhibition rooms of the Vasarely Museum, but the designs, models and work documents for the works displayed at the exhibition in 2000 and those that have been drawn up for the installations of this year’s show. It will be interesting to compare the ideas of international participants with the surviving documents of the first lake exhibition. In addition, the exhibition will have a third component, which also engages the medium of water in a broader sense: it will be here that the envisaged ideas of Hungarian and international artists who have been invited to contribute their free designs, some of whom are members of the younger generation, will be presented.
